Cowboys cut wide receiver with controversial past

The Dallas Cowboys have cut a controversial wide receiver.

The Cowboys have released veteran receiver Martavis Bryant, NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday.

The Cowboys had signed Bryant in November after he was reinstated by the NFL. He has not played in the league since 2018.

Bryant has been suspended numerous times by the NFL for violating the league’s drug policy. He was an effective receiver for the Steelers for three seasons and has amassed 145 catches, 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns in his NFL career. Bryant’s best year came in 2015 when he caught 50 passes for 765 yards and six touchdowns over just 11 games.

The Cowboys likely cut Bryant to potentially make room for another receiver they are considering.
