If there's one thing we know about the Dallas Cowboys' offense under Brian Schottenheimer, it's that they will run the football...a lot.
But also, having weapons like CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jake Ferguson, KaVontae Turpin, and others, airing the ball out is also another avenue they will go down.
With training camp in full swing in Oxnard, the offense initially saw the defense take the early lead, with turnovers coming almost every day. But over the past couple of practices, it has been the offense winning the day.
A week has now gone by in Oxnard, and we are getting a good idea of how the offense will roll under Schottenheimer, but how does Pickens see the offense in its entirety?
"I feel like it's great," Pickens said. "In the offense, it's clicking more just because as the install gets shorter and shorter, you're able to learn more, and that's for even the cues everybody, right now, and for future reference, we're going to be clicking more, and then we're going to add in more stuff. Then, more signals from Dak as well that he likes to do personally. So, long as we communicating signals, learning the plays, I feel like it's going to connect."
So, things appear to be moving in a positive direction, and with the connection with Dak Prescott, Lamb, and Pickens being a constant highlight in camp, that trio feels poised to do some serious damage in 2025.
Granted, we haven't seen the offense have to face true adversity yet, so when they do, we will get a true test of what this group is made of and how Schottenheimer makes his adjustments in-game.
But for now, things are going as well as the Cowboys and Schotty could have hoped for. Yes, there are still some rough edges to smooth over; however, the longer camp goes, the more efficient the offense becomes.
And when Week 1 rolls around, it should be all gas, no brakes for Schotty's Cowboys.
