The Dallas Cowboys have one of the most promising rookie prospects in this class.
However, there's much more to their selections than just Caleb Downs, and they'll have the tough task of turning around a defense that was historically deficient last season. Notably, they didn't get off to the best of starts. In fact, they may have a bad taste in their mouths right now.
Following the first stretch of rookie minicamp, head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed concerns for his new soldiers.
"None of these guys are in great shape right now," Schottenheimer told the media. "You might have saw a few guys getting sick yesterday. A little bit of vomiting going on."
Of course, this isn't necessarily new. Last year alone, Cleveland Browns No. 5 pick Mason Graham made the rounds for throwing up in his first practice. Rookies can finally put the predraft frenzy behind them after spending months getting ready for the NFL Scouting Combine, their pro days and their countless team visits.
Also, even if that weren't the case, there's always an adjustment period for players just turning pro. They will have to bulk up and get up to speed to keep up with grown men who have been doing this for years.
The Cowboys are putting a lot of faith in their first-year players, and that rarely leads to success. However, it's still way too early to be worried about them, and it's just a matter of time before they get hold of it.
