Cowboys improved where they absolutely needed to this offseason

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys made some big calls during the offseason. That's a good thing. They absolutely had to switch things up if they want this team to bounce back as "America's Team" during the 2026 season.

Now, the Cowboys are getting rare props about what they did during the offseason. We say "rare" because they're often scrutinized for their offseason decisions, especially not doing enough or waiting too long on contract signings, as they did with Dak Prescott before the 2024 season.

Cowboys have a much better defense in 2026, NFL expert says

Alex Kay of Bleacher Report has a feature out giving one reason for each franchise to believe in themselves next season.

For the Cowboys, he gushes over what they did during the offseason on defense. That's where they needed to improve. He notes that "defense has been the team's Achilles heel during its quest to return to the Super Bowl for the first time in over three decades."

He also applauds selecting No. 11 overall pick Caleb Downs and No. 23 overall pick Malachi Lawrence, as well as adding veteran cornerback Cobie Durant.

"If defensive coordinator Christian Parker can't get this unit to perform at a top-10 level, it will be considered a major disappointment," Kay says.

It's certainly the case that this defense looks incredibly strong this season, which is great news for Dallas.
