Dallas Cowboys receiver Jonathan Mingo has had a solid offseason, having been a mid-season acquisition last year.
Often a punchline due to the Cowboys trading for him, Mingo has put his head down this offseason and has shown promise in camp and in Dallas' last game (49-yard reception).
While his PCL injury sustained in the 31-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens isn't ideal, and he states he "feels good," and given how tight roster spots are, overall, Mingo thinks he's done a good job with what has been presented to him.
"I had a good camp,” Mingo said. “I feel like I did what I can do on my opportunities. So been out there making plays.''
Having not really impacted the offense last year, Mingo has put together days of consistent production for Brian Schottenheimer's team, to the point where he is a certainty to make the final 53-man roster.
But does he feel more settled in the offense now?
"Yeah, especially getting sit down and learn the playbook with everybody," Mingo added. "It's different getting traded in the middle of the year, trying to learn the playbook in one week. So, learn the whole offense. I feel comfortable in playing faster.”
With Mingo expected to be out for at least a month according to various reports, he'll be put on ice in the hopes of returning to give the offense some spark early in the season.
Having had a good camp, and having his arrow trending the right way, now he must attack his rehab so when his time comes, he can again make plays for Schottenheimer's offense.
