Cowboys' Jerry Jones shares bold take about 49ers, Eagles

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones suggested Tuesday the San Francisco 49ers and not the Philadelphia Eagles are currently the NFC's best team ahead of Sunday's matchup between the 3-1 Cowboys and 4-0 49ers.

"They are, right now, probably the most likely team to go win the Super Bowl, but in order for them to get there, they have to go by us, hopefully two times if that's the way it falls in the playoffs and we're in the playoffs, of course," Jones said about the 49ers during a Tuesday appearance on Dallas sports radio station 105.3 The Fan, per ESPN.

The Eagles completed a journey to Super Bowl LVII last season but fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the title game. Like the 49ers, Dallas' NFC East rival sits at 4-0 and plays at the 2-2 Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

The Cowboys lost to the 49ers in each of the last two postseasons. Jones said Tuesday that Dallas earning a win in San Francisco's Levi's Stadium on Sunday night "would be inspiring" for what he hopes is a Super Bowl contender.

"But the bottom line is you're playing the best, you don't need the game to tell you you're playing the best, but you need the game to show you how you stack up against the best," Jones added.

The Cowboys suffered a surprising 28-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3 but bounced back with a dominant 38-3 victory over the New England Patriots this past Sunday. According to ESPN stats, the Dallas defense is allowing a league-best 10.3 points per game four weeks into the season.

As of Tuesday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the Eagles as the betting favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LVIII at +320 odds. The 49ers were second on the list at +350, followed by the Cowboys at +600.
