We have heard since Brian Schottenheimer took over the head coaching role with the Dallas Cowboys that new players are stepping up in their leadership roles.
Dak Prescott has been the franchise leader since 2016, but this offseason, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, and other veteran players are part of his new-look leadership room at The Star.
And we have another name to add to the list, and it isn't one many would have thought of until now - KaVontae Turpin.
Now part of the receiver room, Turpin has developed into a leader of sorts, and he's revealed what his message has been to the younger receivers who are looking to make a name for themselves this offseason.
“I just be real with them,” Turpin said. “I was in their shoes when I came in [the] league. A lot of guys wanted to believe in me. So, I just be real with them. Tell them how this business is and know how this NFL is. So, I just try to give them all the confidence and just try to be there for them.”
Once "just" a return guy, now Turpin is a genuine receiving option, having worked on his craft tirelessly over the past year, and now he's taking steps to give back to the younger players on the roster.
With a receiver depth chart that is rather youthful behind CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Turpin, it appears that Schottenheimer wants to have a new-look leadership group that might include KaVontae.
Once the new guy on the block, looking to make a name for himself, he's now imparting his wisdom to help the next group of players coming through the ranks at The Star.
