Cowboys Legend Reveals 'Totally Different Vibe' Under Schottenheimer

First, it was Michael Irvin; now we have Tony Casillas.

Two Dallas Cowboys legends who were present at OTAs on Friday and two former players who have had nothing but glowing words to say regarding how Schotty is conducting himself and practices at The Star.

Irvin detailed how Schottenheimer is developing "competition under pressure" in team meetings and practices, players are now feeling a sense of unity and not wanting to let their teammates down.

Now, Casillas, a defensive tackle and two-time Super Bowl champ, has chimed in with his thoughts on what he saw on and off the field on Friday.

"It was a tremendous vibe and energy, and I know it's OTAs, but what I've heard, it's totally different environment, vibe than [when] McCarthy was there," Casillas said. "Nothing to be negative, but it's noticeable. [Schottenheimer] Keeps it loose, focused on the task, the energy, the tempo of moving from drills to drills, just an urgency. Really just having this good attitude and creating some confidence and everything that goes along with that.

"I know it's OTAs, tap the brakes, but it's one hell of a start."

So that is two former legends who have both come back with similar thoughts on what Schottenheimer is attempting to build.

Yes, it is early, but the coaching staff is laying the foundation, and it appears players are already picking up what Schotty is putting down. The vibe is different.

A sense of unity, commitment to one another, and a drive that was reportedly lacking under McCarthy is now back. There is fun, but also when it's time to work, the players are all gas, no brakes.

Will that translate to wins? Who knows, but things are off to one hell of a start under Schottenheimer.
