There was a lot of anticipation ahead of Quinnen Williams’ long-awaited Dallas Cowboys debut. The moment finally came on Monday night as the All-Pro defensive lineman suited up for his new team for the first time since his blockbuster mid-season trade. Williams did not disappoint.

The 27-year-old led Dallas’ secondary with four total tackles (one solo). Williams also registered 1.5 sacks to help lift the Cowboys to a 33-16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. It was a much-needed victory for the Cowboys, who were coming off back-to-back losses before “Monday Night Football” at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas. With the win, Dallas improved to 4-5-1 on the season.

There were some major expectations from Cowboys supporters leading up to the Nov. 4 trade deadline. Defense has been an issue for Dallas all season long, and fans were adamant that the shortcomings in the secondary were the most significant concern that needed to be addressed.

Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones responded by pulling the trigger on a blockbuster trade for Williams. In exchange for the three-time Pro Bowler, the Cowboys gave up Mazi Smith, a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick to the New York Jets.

Williams proved in his debut why Dallas gave up so much to acquire his services. In fact, the former Alabama Crimson Tide star was able to make franchise history in his first game. The Cowboys took to social media to announce Williams’ historic feat.

“Quinnen Williams has 1.5 sacks in his Cowboys debut. Not including players who played for Dallas in the 1987 player’s strike, Williams is the fourth Cowboy since 1982 with at least 1.5 sacks in his first game with Dallas,” Dallas Cowboys Public Relations posted on X.

As indicated in the post, Williams has joined All-Pro linebacker Eric Kendricks, Pro Bowl defensive end Greg Hardy and Hall of Fame All-2000s Team member La’Roi Glover on the elite list.

Williams’ next chance to make an impact will be on Sunday. The Cowboys face a tough test with the defending champions coming to town. Dallas hosts the Philadelphia Eagles at AT&T Center for a Week 12 matchup, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.
