The Dallas Cowboys made several notable moves this offseason, but one NFL analyst believes two key roster questions remain unresolved heading into the 2026 season.
Shane Taylor pointed to offensive tackle and cornerback, arguing Dallas could have added more proven talent at both positions.
“I have to give credit where it is due, but in my opinion,” Taylor said, “and remember you can disagree, it is okay, but I still think they could have addressed two other issues.”
Shane Taylor of Inside The Star identified his first concern: the Cowboys’ offensive tackle position. Tyler Guyton and Terence Steele are currently set to start, but he remains unsure if the team has enough reliability at the position.
Nate Thomas and Drew Shelton will also have a chance to compete for those spots if they perform well during training camp and preseason.
Taylor felt Dallas needed more experience at tackle and should have added a proven starter to support Tyler Smith, Cooper Beebe, and Tyler Booker.
His second concern was about the Cowboys’ cornerback room. With DaRon Bland and Devin Moore recovering from injuries, Taylor questioned whether the group will be ready to handle top receivers early in the season.
While Dallas added safeties Jalen Thompson, Caleb Downs, and P.J. Locke, he argued that those moves did not solve the team’s concerns at cornerback.
Cobie Durant was one of the team’s biggest additions at cornerback, while fourth-round pick Devin Moore also joined the group.
While questions remain at offensive tackle and cornerback, Dallas appears satisfied with another area of its roster.
The Dallas Cowboys are not expected to add free-agent edge rusher Von Miller before the 2026 season.
NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported that Miller is not in talks with Dallas and is not expected to sign with the team currently after he shared an image of himself in a Cowboys uniform on his Instagram Stories.
The Cowboys remain comfortable with their current group heading into training camp. Dallas is expected to rely on players like Rashan Gary, 2025 second-round pick Donovan Ezeiruaku, and 2026 first-round pick Malachi Lawrence to lead the defensive front.
Miller, 37, recorded nine sacks as a rotational pass rusher with the Washington Commanders in 2025. The four-time first-team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler remains a free agent.
Whether Taylor’s concerns prove valid will become clearer once training camp begins, but Dallas appears committed to evaluating its current roster before considering any additions.
The team’s attention will now remain on its existing options before the regular season.
