While the Texas Rangers won the World Series for the first time in the franchise's 63-season history earlier this week, the Dallas Cowboys are looking to end a Super Bowl drought that began after the 1995 NFL campaign.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott hopes the positive vibes enjoyed by the Rangers this fall transfer over to Dallas through this coming February.
"Yeah, hell yeah, I mean congratulations to the Rangers, their whole organization," Prescott said, per Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "Been a fan of them since I’ve come into Dallas...Understand the years they’ve had, tough years, but to see what they’ve done in this turnaround in these last couple of years has been awesome."
A somewhat defiant Prescott vowed as recently as last week that criticisms regarding the fact he has yet to guide Dallas to even a Super Bowl appearance will "make it all that much sweeter" when "things go our way and we win this thing." The 5-2 Cowboys can send quite a message to the rest of the NFL when they play at the 7-1 Philadelphia Eagles this coming Sunday afternoon.
"Would love to experience how they’re feeling," Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb admitted when speaking about the Rangers. "Definitely would love to end the season the way they did."
As of Friday afternoon, oddschecker listed the Eagles as the betting favorites at +300 odds to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LVIII this coming February. The San Francisco 49ers were second at +350 odds, followed by the Cowboys at +600.
Prescott mentioned that he particularly noticed what Rangers players and coaches said minutes after they clinched the franchise's first championship.
"But the faith and trust in one another is something I took from it and was proud to watch them and then to listen in on the way that they handled it and celebrated their success," he explained.
On Friday afternoon, oddschecker had the Cowboys as three-point underdogs against the Eagles. That fact coupled with what Prescott recently saw from the Rangers could help propel him to what may go down as a season-defining performance at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field.
