Cowboys New 'Tough-Guy' Contract Hints At Offensive Pecking Order

The Dallas Cowboys did some serious wheeling and dealing on Tuesday, with three contracts being signed, with the flip of the switch on CeeDee Lamb's deal combining with Osa Odighizuwa, C.J. Goodwin, and Brock Hoffman all putting pen to paper.

In the case of Hoffman, he signed his exclusive rights tender, keeping him in Dallas for the 2025 season, and it might do more than that.

With Hoffman stepping in well last season for the injured Zack Martin, there is a thought that he might be the future Hall of Famer's successor at right guard.

Or, with Brian Schottenheimer subtly hinting that center Cooper Beebe might move back to guard, where he played at Kansas City under now Cowboys offensive line coach Conor Riley, then Hoffman, who was in a battle for the center position in training camp with Beebe last offseason, might step into that role.

A tough-guy trash talker and perhaps more importantly, especially in this new-look Dallas offense, a bruiser who loves playing punishing football, Hoffman, with his deal signed, might be looking at a starting role along the offensive line.

With the Cowboys coaching staff repeatedly stating that they will play the "best five" across the line, regardless of position, maybe Hoffman fits into that.

Dak Prescott already has great chemistry with him, plus his teammates seem to eat up the physical nature he plays football with, so it makes sense to bring him back.

But has his tender signing hinted that Scottenheimer and his coaching staff have a plan in place for Brock?

An offense that has often stated that it wants to be violent, aggressive, and have grit—ironically, all Brock Hoffman traits.

Make of that what you will.
