2025 Chicago Bears win total, prediction

Another year and another offseason hype train is speeding down the tracks for the Chicago Bears. Despite the high expectations in the Windy City, BetMGM expects the Bears to finish close to .500 in 2025.

Regular-season win total: 8.5 (BetMGM

Outlook: It has been quite a busy offseason for general manager Ryan Poles. The first order of business was upgrading at head coach after firing Matt Eberflus, and the Bears did just that by snatching hyped offensive coordinator Ben Johnson from the division rival Detroit Lions.

Johnson also brought in former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen to serve as defensive coordinator and Declan Doyle to take over as offensive coordinator. The improved coaching staff puts the Bears on an upward trajectory after their 5-12 season in 2024.

As for the roster, Poles focused on rebuilding the offensive line after the Bears gave up a league-high 68 sacks last season. In March, Chicago traded for guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson to add experience and stability to the interior. Poles completed the OL overhaul by signing veteran center Drew Dalman.

Along with the upgrades at head coach and offensive line, the Bears added more offensive weaponry in the 2025 NFL Draft with Michigan tight end Colston Loveland and Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III. With an improved offense and an elite play-caller running the show, QB Caleb Williams is poised to make a big second-year leap.

On defense, Poles employed a similar strategy by signing defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo in free agency. T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds make up a solid duo at linebacker, cornerback Jaylon Johnson is one of the best in the business and safety Jaquan Brisker will be back after missing 12 games last season.

According to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, the Bears have the seventh-toughest schedule in the NFL this season. The challenging quirk in the schedule is that Chicago's tough non-division games against the Washington Commanders, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers are on the road.

Our take: Coaching matters a ton in the NFL, and the incompetent staff in Chicago last season didn't give the Bears much of a chance to succeed. Going from Eberflus and Shane Waldron (fired as OC in November 2024) to Johnson (and having a serviceable offensive line) will make a world of difference for Williams. If the USC product takes a big step forward in 2025, the Bears will be a playoff team. | Predicted win total: 10
