Cowboys OC Kellen Moore: Dak Prescott is 'ready to just go play football'

The tune coming out of Dallas Cowboys' organized team activities remains the same: Quarterback Dak Prescott could play today, if necessary, coming off the compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle he suffered Oct. 11 that required a second surgery to strengthen that ankle in December.

Prescott said more than a week ago he was "pretty much full-go" for workouts, and Dallas offensive coordinator Kellen Moore went one step further when speaking with reporters Friday.

"Really, we’re playing ball now," Moore explained, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "You can ask Dak. He’s ready to just go play football. Obviously, if they need to limit him in any regard, they do. But we’re playing football. We’re playing football like Dak’s always played football."

By "limit," Moore means the Cowboys don't want Prescott facing significant pass rushes this spring as he works to fully recover from what could have become a career-threatening injury.

Moore added on Prescott: "He’s certainly done a lot out there in OTAs, so we’re in a really good place with him. I think he feels really good. Obviously, the process is what it is, and it takes some time."

Last week, tight end Dalton Schultz said Prescott largely looked the same as he did before the injury in the early stages of OTAs.

The two-time Pro Bowl signal-caller seems well on his way to starting when the Cowboys open the regular season Sept. 9 at the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
