Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: Dak Prescott good to go for Week 1 vs. Buccaneers

While some fans may have chuckled upon learning Thursday that Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott was limited for practice because of discomfort related to a recent change of cleats, there's nothing funny about the compound fracture and dislocation of that same sore right ankle he initially suffered in October 2020.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy delivered good news on Friday when he said he does "not have any concern" regarding Prescott's availability for the regular-season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at AT&T Stadium on Sunday evening. Later in the day, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones confirmed during a spot on Dallas sports radio station 105.3 The Fan his QB1 is good to go for Week 1.

"I think he had some discomfort, but it was checked out thoroughly in every way that you can and no issues," Jones explained, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "Certainly could have returned (because) we have got some really good on the spot testing and on the spot equipment that we can do out there, not only right there in our practice facility, but also steps away in our Baylor Medical Center. So, we were able to take a good look at it and got completely satisfied and he did, too, that there was nothing to it."

Prescott made his return from the original injury in Week 1 against the Buccaneers last September and completed 42-of-58 passes for 403 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in a 31-29 loss to Tom Brady and company the Cowboys will look to avenge this Sunday evening.
