The Dallas Cowboys improved to 2-2-1 after defeating the New York Jets 37-22 in Week 5. However, it wasn't all good news, as Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made a costly mistake.
After the game, a video of Jones flipping off a Jets fan from a box at MetLife Stadium emerged. The NFL fined him $250,000, which he was reportedly going to appeal, but ultimately decided not to.
"That was unfortunate," Jones said, while on 105.3 The Fan. "There was a swarm of Cowboys fans out front. It was right after we made our last touchdown. I put up the wrong show of hand. The intention was thumbs up.”
The Cowboys are now set to face the Carolina Panthers for a Week 6 matchup. Luckily, Jones revealed he has an interesting plan in place so he doesn't find himself receiving another fine from the NFL.
"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones joked on the @1053thefan pregame show that he has taped his fingers together so he can't give the middle finger to any fans," wrote The Athletic's Jon Machota.

Dallas enters the game against Carolina as 2.5-point favorites according to ESPN BET. ESPN's matchup predictor gives the Cowboys a 61.6% chance of winning despite entering a hostile environment at Bank of America Stadium.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is looking to build off his first five games, throwing for 1,356 yards, 10 touchdowns, three interceptions and a 101.1 passer rating.
Luckily, if the Cowboys come out on top and improve to 3-2-1, Jones has an effective plan in place in order to not lose out on another $250,000.
