We have heard all offseason about the Dallas Cowboys needing a No. 2 receiver to go alongside CeeDee Lamb, and as it turns out, new addition George Pickens wasn't aware of "that" kind of talk.
With Lamb being the only genuine weapon at Dak Prescott's disposal, many wanted another receiver to help take some of the burden off Lamb's shoulders - enter George.
Seen by many as a 1B receiver, not a No. 2, Pickens himself has revealed that he doesn't see it that way in Brian Schottenheimer's offense.
And he took a gentle poke at the media in his explanation.
"You guys making a 1A and 1B and all this ... Honestly, that's the first time I heard any of that stuff. I felt like two receivers are kind of normal," Pickens said. "When I used to watch football, there was always a good receiver and there was always another good receiver on the other side of him. I just feel like we're going to work off each other very well."
Having been the No. 1 guy in Pittsburgh, there is a case to be made that the Cowboys now have two No. 1s, similar to the Philadelphia Eagles with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and the Washington Commanders with Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel.
Dallas now has its weapons to enter the NFC fight with.
It is becoming clear that Pickens isn't coming to The Star to make waves; he's determined to prove his worth, and we have consistently heard him talk about the "culture" in the conference call with several Cowboys beat writers.
It appears that George is under no illusions as to what is expected of him in 2025, and he isn't here to be the No. 1 or No. 2 receiver - he's here to work with Lamb and take this Dallas offense to new heights.
