Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has message for his critics

No quarterback seems to be under the microscope more than Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

After facing criticism for a sub-par 2022 season that included a league-leading 15 interceptions (in only 12 games), Prescott is now playing at an MVP level and had a very strong message for those that doubted him after Thursday's 41-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

He is the one writing his story. Not his critics.

“I have the pen; I have the paper; and I am the one writing. Because I am playing as well as I am now, it doesn’t mean I am going to stop or listen to them now. I appreciate them, but I don’t care about their opinions right now anymore than I did when they were calling for my spot. As I said, I am blessed, this last year has been a reflection of that. A lot of great things have happened in my life and are going to continue to happen in my life because of my mindset and where I put the value of life.”

At the moment, he is writing a pretty impressive story for himself.

Following a dreadful three-interception performance in San Francisco in early October, Prescott has put the Cowboys on his back over the past seven games and is playing some of the best football of his career.

With his three touchdowns on Thursday night, he has thrown for 21 touchdowns and only two interceptions over that seven-game stretch, leading the Cowboys to a 6-1 record. For the season, he has 26 touchdowns to only six interceptions and is putting together one of the most complete individual seasons of his career.

His 108.3 passer rating is the highest it has ever been and is currently second in the NFL this season, while he is throwing touchdowns at a higher rate than ever before, has a higher completion percentage (70.1) than ever before and has dramatically cut down on the turnovers that plagued his 2022 season.

As strong as this performance is, it is still going to come down to what he does in the playoffs. Being the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys will always bring a special type of pressure. It is the most important position on the field for one of the most prominent and popular teams in North American sports. When you add in the lack of playoff success the Cowboys have had, any sort of shortcoming is going to get magnified.

At the moment, there are no shortcomings to magnify. He just needs to continue that through the playoffs.
