Cowboys Receive Good News on Saturday Night

Jerry Jones watched on as his Dallas Cowboys moved to 2-2-1 on the 2025 NFL season after taking down Justin Fields and the New York Jets 37-22 in Week 5. Now, eyeing their first winning streak of the year, the Cowboys face another test on the road, traveling to Charlotte to take on Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.

In recent seasons, one of Dallas’ biggest strengths has been its pass defense, anchored by Pro Bowl cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland. However, after trading their top pass rusher, Micah Parsons, to the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys have struggled both in generating pressure and defending the pass. Through five games, they’ve recorded only 10 sacks and are allowing an NFL-worst 284.6 passing yards per game.

Leading up to Cowboys vs. Panthers, Diggs and Bland were both listed as questionable on the injury report and both were limited participants in practice throughout the week. Diggs is dealing with a lingering knee issue after undergoing surgery in January, while Bland, who has already missed two games this year, injured his shoulder in the win over the Jets.

However, it appears that Dallas has dodged a bullet, and on Saturday night, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport revealed that both Diggs and Bland are expected to play in Week 6 against the Panthers.

"Cowboys CBs Trevon Diggs (knee) and DaRon Bland (shoulder) are both listed as questionable and both expected to go, sources say," Rapoport wrote on X.

While the defense continues to get healthy, the offense has taken some major hits over the last few weeks. All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will miss a third consecutive game on Sunday with an ankle issue, while the offensive line was without four starters against the Jets, but tackle Tyler Guyton is expected to return.

The Cowboys will take on the Panthers at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
