The Dallas Cowboys had a productive draft, focusing on strengthening the trenches to make their offensive and defensive lines younger and more dynamic. They kicked off the draft by selecting offensive lineman Tyler Booker with their first pick, followed by edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku in the second round.
However, a lot of excitement came in the fourth round when they selected Texas Longhorns running back Jaydon Blue, sparking a wave of enthusiasm among Cowboys fans, who were wanting a potential playmaker on the offensive side of the ball.
Amid draft discussions, rumors surfaced that the Cowboys were a top contender to trade for Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver George Pickens, with reports suggesting the Steelers were open to trade offers.
Despite the trade rumors, no deal materialized during the draft. However, those discussions took an unexpected turn on Tuesday morning, according to NFL insider Dianna Russini.
Russini reported that the trade talks surrounding Pickens are expected to cool off, potentially leaving Dallas on the outside looking in when it comes to acquiring the young star.
"George Pickens' name was tossed around in trade discussions this past week," Russini posted. "The Cowboys were one of the teams that discussed bringing in the Steelers' wideout, sources tell me. But with the draft in the rearview, expect the trade buzz to cool surrounding Pickens."

The Cowboys didn't select a wide receiver in this year's draft, leaving them with a receiving corps similar to last season's—one that, aside from CeeDee Lamb, struggled to produce consistently.
Last season, the team traded for Jonathan Mingo in the middle of the year, and now, Dallas’ primary receiving group consists of Lamb, Mingo, Jalen Tolbert, and KayVontae Turpin. However, Jerry Jones has made it clear that the Cowboys may not be finished addressing the wide receiver position just yet.
"It definitely was a big-time thought, but the train has not left the station if improvement is needed from what we've got on campus," Jones said Saturday. "I'm looking at the same sheet maybe you got in front of you that I have in front of me and it shows our No. 114 pick trade to Carolina for Jonathan Mingo. Well, we've obviously known that."
He continued, "So, I'm just giving you the benefit of the mentality there. But definitely the idea that we could, if the opportunity comes up, if we want to, can address this in free agency."
