After tying the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys still looked for their second win of the 2025 NFL season, hitting the road to face Justin Fields and the New York Jets in Week 5. Despite the Cowboys' 1-2-1 record through four games, Prescott has still been solid, recording 1,119 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions with another score on the ground.

Coming into the Week 5 matchup against the Jets, Prescott had tallied 4,325 pass attempts during his 10-year NFL career, good for the third most in Cowboys history. With 11 minutes, 40 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Prescott hit tight end Jake Ferguson for a 26-yard touchdown, marking his 11th passing attempt of the day and 4,336th of his career.

In doing so, Prescott passed former Dallas quarterback Tony Romo (4,335) for the second-most passing attempts in franchise history. He trails only three-time Super Bowl champion Troy Aikman, who holds the Cowboys record with 4,715 career passing attempts.

"On that 26-yard touchdown pass, Dak Prescott attempted his 4,336th career pass attempt, passing Tony Romo (4,335) for second in attempts in franchise history," Dallas Cowboys Public Relations wrote on X.

While Prescott doesn't have the passing attempt record just yet, he does hold the Dallas record for most completions, going into Week 5 with 2,901 and a 67.1% completion rate. He is also nearing the franchise record for most passing yards and passing touchdowns, both of which are held by Romo.

Following the Week 5 game against the Jets, Prescott and the Cowboys will remain on the road to face Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.
