Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb Update Revealed on Sunday

CeeDee Lamb’s injury has been one of the biggest blows for the Dallas Cowboys this season. The star wide receiver suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears after rolling his left ankle while being tackled on a short handoff play. He exited the game early and has not played since.

While Dallas has managed to stay productive offensively — scoring 77 points in its last two outings — Lamb’s absence remains a concern, especially with key divisional matchups ahead. The Cowboys, currently third in the NFC East, have leaned on Dak Prescott’s efficiency and an attack featuring wide receiver George Pickens, second-year receiver Ryan Flournoy, tight end Jake Ferguson and running back Javonte Williams heading into Week 6.

Lamb was officially ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, marking his third straight absence. According to team reports, he did not practice this week as he continues his recovery.

However, optimism is building about his return. On Sunday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero gave an update on his recovery and his potential return date.

“He [CeeDee Lamb] is getting close to returning. My understanding is Lamb has a chance to play next week in a big game against the Commanders. One source describes it as 50-50. We’ll see if he can practice on Wednesday.”

That potential return would be significant for Dallas, which sits just one game behind Washington in the NFC East standings. Before his injury, Lamb had 16 receptions for 222 yards through two games and was on pace for another 1,000-yard season. His connection with Prescott and ability to stretch defenses make him one of the most valuable pieces of the Cowboys’ offense.

Against Carolina, the Cowboys will look to extend their winning streak and keep pressure on the Commanders and the first-place Philadelphia Eagles, who were upset by the New York Giants on Thursday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
