The Chicago Bears having the No. 1 pick this offseason somehow anticipated the departure of quarterback Justin Fields , after three seasons of ups and downs. Though the franchise had thought their quarterback wouldn’t be short of prospects this offseason, it went quite the opposite way.

As the free agency period begins its course, interest in the Bears’ starting quarterback doesn’t seem to be that robust. While that happened, everyone has been giving their own set of ideas on what should Fields do next. But no one ever expected what Craig Carton said.

Shortly after the Atlanta Falcons went ahead with Kirk Cousins over Fields, Fox Sports host gave a bizarre suggestion to the young quarterback, telling him to try his hand as wide receiver.

I’m gonna get a...legitimate generational talent in Caleb Williams and I’m gonna give him D.J. Moore on one side and Justin Fields on the other side. Guard that .  said Carton on the FS1 show on Tuesday

Having no lead for the upcoming season, Carton suggested Fields remain with the Bears but as a wide receiver to Caleb Williams, who is expected to be the No. 1 pick this NFL Draft.

Greg Jennings rebukes Craig Carton’s take on career switch for Justin Fields

Although it isn’t clear how the 25-year-old took Carton’s suggestion, there sure was one in the studio who took it as an offense. The FS1 host was joined by Super Bowl champion and multiple-time Pro Bowler, Greg Jennings

As an accomplished wide receiver, Jennings didn’t appreciate how lightly his co-host Carton took wide receiving and suggested Fields change his entire career after hitting a pitfall.

Stop it. It’s not that easy. If it were that easy, we’d see it done all the time…you’re being very disrespectful. You’re being absolutely the most disrespectful you can be right now . Greg Jennings

Jennings found it absurd that Carton believed Fields would be a better wide receiver than all the other wide receivers who have been playing that position their entire football career. Nonetheless, Fields’ future in the league remains ambiguous.
