Creed Humphrey's response to Trey Smith's deal is pure offensive line joy

The deal is done. The news has been announced. The transaction is official. Trey Smith will be a member of the Kansas City Chiefs roster through the 2028 season.

Terms of a four-year contract between Smith and the Chiefs were announced on Tuesday, just hours before the NFL's deadline to get a deal done between players with a franchise tag and their respective franchises.

Smith has $94 million reasons to smile given the lucrative nature of the deal. Smith can earn up to that much with $70M of that in practical guarantees. That's quite a raise for a player who has provided Pro Bowl performances on the pay of a sixth-round draft choice.

It's not surprising, then, to see so much celebration over the deal. Chiefs fans were ecstatic on social media, knowing that Smith would remain an offensive anchor for years to come. Smith's teammates with the Chiefs were excited as well.

Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes had the most straightforward response on social media with a clearly happy response with the announcement.

Mahomes should be pleased considering that Smith's presence is a major offensive factor in terms of the team's success up front.

Smith has been playing next to Creed Humphrey at center for the last four years, after being drafted together in 2021. Humphrey signed a long-term deal himself last year, a contract which made him the highest-paid center in the game. Now that Smith can lay claim to the same, the pair will be together—well, maybe as Humphrey would say, "living in perfect harmony."

In case the reference is lost on you, that's Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney, who came together in the early '80s for a song called "Ebony and Ivory." Together they sing, "Ebony, ivory, living in perfect harmony." Check out the video below for yourself.

Fellow Chiefs lineman Kingsley Suamataia was also happy to see the news, but had a different duo in mind to express his sentiments.

Meanwhile, Drue Tranquill represented the responses from the defensive side of the ball. The linebacker was clearly glad he wasn't going to have to face Smith anytime soon, other than in Chiefs' practice sessions.

Smith is happy. Fans are happy. Teammates are happy. Or, as Creed would say, living in perfect harmony.
