Dak Prescott believes Cowboys will have a 'heavy defensive draft'

Dak Prescott believes that the Cowboys will focus on the defensive side of the ball in the draft, noting that Dallas is already loaded on offense, which makes it unnecessary to add any more weapons.

"I think it'll be a heavy defensive for us," Prescott said on "Tiki & Tierney" (via The Athletic's Jon Machota). "You just look at the offensive side at the weapons we've got, and I think that's why I say go defensive."

Prescott is certainly right that the Cowboys have among the most stacked offensive rosters in the league, as Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb form a potent trio. And even with his recent decline in production, Zeke Elliott remains a threat in the backfield.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys defense was a major disappointment last season, giving up 386 yards and 29.6 points per game last season. And in a draft loaded with offensive talent, the Cowboys could still likely land an elite defensive prospect despite picking 10th.

Prescott's preference for defense seems to be supported by owner Jerry Jones, who said earlier this week that he believes the Cowboys could be in a prime position to take the best defensive player in the draft with the No. 10 pick.
