Dak Prescott reveals whether Packers game brings closure on Micah Parsons trade

Maybe it never left but the Micah Parsons trade takes center stage again Sunday night. The Dallas Cowboys welcome back their star player for a massive showdown against the Green Bay Packers. Questions about the situation are flying, on both sides, as Parsons walks into AT&T Stadium in green and gold.

But once the game goes final, is there any closure on what transpired this offseason? Dak Prescott was asked as such, saying answers can be found elsewhere. Prescott seemingly moved on once Parsons got dealt to Green Bay.

“You gotta ask Jerry (Jones) and Micah,” Parsons said via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “To me, the closure happened when the trade happened.”

Still, it’s no secret how good of friends Parsons and Prescott are. The two competed with each other on nearly a daily basis despite being teammates. After all, NFL players spend almost all of training camp going up against one another.

This will be the first time Parsons is allowed to hit Prescott, though. Usually, the Cowboys quarterback wore a red non-contact jersey during practice. Prescott will be in a normal white uniform on Sunday, the same as the other 10 offensive players out there. He expects the competitive edge to remain the same.

“Going against Micah in times when he couldn’t hit me, whether him getting back there, just the trash talk back and forth, me telling him he wouldn’t tackle me anyways, he still can’t bring me down,” Prescott said via ESPN’s Todd Archer. “You got to get to that point. Just getting to go out there and compete with a guy that’s a good friend, that I’ve competed with in numbers of ways throughout this building, outside of this building. Just excited to go and have that matchup. But he’s got five guys up front, plus tight ends and running backs, that he’s got to get through. Then we’ll worry about if he can get to me.”

Given where Parsons usually lines up, Terence Steele or Tyler Guyton likely get the task of blocking him. More than a fair share of chips might be coming his way as well. Anything to make sure Green Bay’s new No. 1 does not play a huge factor in the game.

Prescott hopes to remain clean for all four quarters. The result matters a ton too, as the Cowboys need a win to avoid a 0-3 start to the 2025 season.
