Dak Prescott sends CeeDee Lamb hype to another level with latest praise

Mark it down in pen — Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott isn't just on the CeeDee Lamb hype train, he's the conductor.

The 24-year-old wide receiver has wasted little time proving that he's a star on the rise, and his time to shine is already well underway.

Lamb was selected No. 17 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, and the fact he was still on the board when the Cowboys were on the clock was a shock to many fans and analysts alike.

The former Oklahoma Sooners star has improved over his first three NFL seasons in virtually all statistical categories, and Prescott officially called his shot when speaking about Lamb to the media on Wednesday.

As Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News revealed, Prescott said he believes Lamb will be the best receiver in the NFL. He also stated that the wideout has "only scratched the surface in what he's capable of doing."

It's hard to argue with anything Prescott said, and Lamb's numbers to this point do more than enough of the talking to highlight that. He's fresh off a 2022 campaign in which he 107 passes for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns, all career-bests to this point in his three-year NFL career.

Arguably one of the most impressive aspects of Lamb's overall numbers is the fact that he posted his highest catch percentage (68.6) while receiving the most targets he's had in a single season (156) last year. It's one of many reasons why the Cowboys and Lamb are expected to come to terms on a contract extension sooner than later.

While Lamb is due to make a base salary of just north of $2.5M this season, that number would jump to nearly $18M next year if a deal didn't get done.

It's widely believed that the two sides will strike a deal worth far more than that $18M regardless, and Spotrac currently has his market value at $22.5M annually, which would place him among the top 10 of all NFL wide receivers.

If and when the Cowboys and Lamb agree to a contract extension, his annual salary could easily surpass that $22.5M number as well. If it doesn't or is even close to it, don't be surprised to see Lamb's next contract extension feature yet another big bump in pay as the explosive receiver continues to make his mark on the NFL.
