Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson endured a frustrating 2024 season after coming off a Pro Bowl year in 2023.
The NFL world was there for the taking, but injuries and a nasty concussion left Ferguson fighting against the tide. It was a battle he lost, as he finished with 59 receptions for just 494 yards and zero touchdowns.
But now, healthy and ready to be one of the main weapons for Dak Prescott in Brian Schottenheimer's offense, the "big biscuit" is ready for his revenge tour.
And Prescott is ready, too.
“Our relationship's great,” Prescott said. “I think if I probably finish that season out he's going to get a touchdown, so yeah it sucks. That guy's a competitor, he wants to win, has a high standard, so I know a year like that is only pushing him, and I've seen in the way that he's approaching this offseason and attacking everything. The details, the question he's asking, our relationship is only growing, he's a talented guy, he's an enforcer on this offense, and we need him.”
With 2024 firmly behind him, Ferguson can now look to build on what was a positive OTA and minicamp, with Oxnard now coming into view.
Build the relationship backup with Prescott, and emerge as the likely third passing option behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. With those three, and then Jalen Tolbert and Jonathan Mingo behind them, Dallas' offense suddenly looks far more potent.
Ferguson earlier said, "You can't cover everybody," and defenses will have a hard time deciding who to try to curtail, making the task even more complicated if Ferguson returns to his Pro Bowl form.
That, going by Prescott's words, has a good chance of becoming reality.
