Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons is never shy about sharing his opinions. He has built a following and often reacts to the latest news with the team. The biggest news for every NFL team is the schedule release. One of the reasons the NFL has such parity is the schedule. The order in which a team plays certain teams matters over the course of a season. The Cowboys have a particularly brutal stretch late in the season, which has been a huge topic of conversation on Thursday, and Parsons took time to respond on social media.

The stretch for the Dallas Cowboys that has ignited the conversation is weeks 12-17. During that stretch, the team has to play the Eagles, Chiefs, Lions, Vikings, Chargers, and the Commanders. The Thanksgiving Day game against Kansas City will be on short rest. ESPN’s Adam Schefter pointed out that this is the first time in NFL history a team has seen a stretch this difficult.
“From Weeks 12-17, the Cowboys play the Eagles, Chiefs, Lions, Vikings, Chargers and Commanders — all teams that won at least 11 games last season. Per (Evan Kaplan) and Elias, the Cowboys will be the first team in NFL history to play six straight games against teams that all won 11+ games the previous season.”
Ouch. We knew the Dallas Cowboys’ schedule would be difficult because they have to play the Eagles and Commanders twice. However, this is a brutal stretch during a part of the season when going on a losing streak cannot happen. Micah Parsons isn’t worried. He posted “F*** them! Let’s play ball!” on social media. He’s taking the approach that players cannot control the schedule, and all you can worry about is going out and winning.
The NFL doesn’t target certain teams to have difficult stretches. Sometimes it’s how the chips fall. A team like the Dallas Cowboys has certain games already on the schedule. They will always play on Thanksgiving Day and will likley grace Sunday night or Monday night throughout the season. Sometimes this is how it goes. The other thing Dallas Cowboys fans should remember is week 12 is a long way off.
Teams don’t always carry over success from one season to the next. Will the Detroit Lions look the same after losing both coordinators? Is JJ McCarthy ready to be an NFL starter on a contending team? Will Jayden Daniels continue his success from last year, or have a sophomore slump? Who will be injured when the Cowboys face each team? This stretch could look very different come November.
Micah Parsons has the right idea. All he and any player can do is go out and play. The Dallas Cowboys will have to hope they can start out the season on a high note or things could get ugly late.
