Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs underwent a serious surgery on Thursday.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, Diggs underwent chondral tissue graft surgery on his left knee and the surgery could keep him sidelined well into the summer. There's a chance that he could miss part of training camp.

Diggs played in the first 10 games of the Cowboys' 2024 season before missing the next two with a knee injury. He then returned for the December 9 game against the Cincinnati Bengals before he was placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

He finished the year with 42 total tackles, two interceptions, and 11 passes defended.

The Cowboys are hopeful that Diggs will return to full health for the 2025 season after his 2024 season was cut short. He's a two-time Pro Bowler and had his best individual season in 2022, compiling 59 total tackles, three interceptions, and 14 passes defended.

Diggs is set to enter the third year of a five-year $97 million contract and is one of the top corners in the league when he's healthy.

This news comes as the Cowboys continue to search for their next head coach. They parted ways with Mike McCarthy on January 13 and have conducted a few interviews, including two with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, but no deal has been reached.

They have also interviewed Kellen Moore, Leslie Frazier, and Robert Saleh. They have spoken to Colorado hard coach Deion Sanders but as of this writing, they haven't formally interviewed him.

They'll want to decide sooner rather than later since free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft are just around the corner. They're on the heels of missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2020 season so they'll need to make roster upgrades where they see fit.
