Police arrested a Dallas Cowboys Friday night and charged him with possession of a controlled substance and marijuana on Friday. The Cowboys, who made a series of moves in the offseason to challenge for the Super Bowl next season, could see one of their best player receive strong punishment.
Todd Archer of ESPN reported on Saturday that police arrested safety Markquese Bell on Friday. The Collin County jail records showed that authorities charged him with possession of a controlled substance and marijuana.
Prosper police made the arrest. The team declined to comment on the situation, although they informed that they are aware of it.
Markquese Bell now faces legal trouble. The possession of a controlled substance is a felony, while the possession of marijuana is a Class B misdemeanor. The NFL could penalize him under its personal conduct policy.
Bell will play the second of a three-year, $9 million deal with the Lone Star. He started three of 17 games last season, recording 34 tackles, one sack, one pass deflection and one pressure.
Amid a busy offseason, this was the latest event the Cowboys wanted to deal with.
