OXNARD, Calif. — The Dallas Cowboys waived wide receiver Traeshon Holden on Monday, opening the roster spot needed to add Von Miller.

Miller agreed to terms Sunday night on a one-year contract. ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the agreement. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the deal is worth $5.5 million and can reach $7.5 million. Dallas had $18.5 million in cap space before the agreement.

Traeshon Holden Waived After Seattle Game

Holden was in his second training camp with Dallas after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in 2025.

The Cowboys waived him during final cuts last August and brought him back to the practice squad. He stayed there for the season without appearing in a regular-season game, then signed a reserve/future contract in January.

Holden spent three seasons at Alabama before transferring to Oregon. In 2024, as a senior, he caught 45 passes for 718 yards and scored 5 touchdowns, starting 10 of the 13 games he played. That year, the Big Ten coaches named him honorable mention all-conference. Over his college career, he accumulated 128 receptions for 1,740 yards.

His final appearance for Dallas came Saturday in a 17-7 preseason win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Holden muffed a punt near the goal line with 8:21 left in the fourth quarter. Seattle recovered at the Dallas 5.

The Seahawks gained 4 yards on their first two plays before getting stopped on third-and-1. Isaiah Land sacked Jalen Milroe on fourth down.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Holden knew he had made a mistake and was disappointed.

“I don’t know,” Schottenheimer said. “I want to talk to him. I know he was disappointed. He knew he made a mistake. Traeshon wants to win. He’s competing. I think any time players step up, you can be affected by that. But Traeshon’s a pro, and he’ll bounce back.”

Camden Brown Scores Twice Against Seattle Seahawks

Camden Brown caught all 3 passes thrown his way Saturday for 62 yards.

His first touchdown went for 39 yards from Sam Howell late in the second quarter. Joe Milton III went back to Brown from 2 yards out in the third. They were the only two touchdowns Dallas scored.

Dallas signed Brown in April after he went undrafted out of Georgia Southern. He caught 65 passes for 1,079 yards and 14 touchdowns last season, becoming the first Georgia Southern receiver to surpass 1,000 yards in a season. His 14 touchdowns set a school record.

Brown spent three seasons at Auburn before the transfer.

The Cowboys also have CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, and Jonathan Mingo at receiver. Pickens is playing 2026 on the franchise tag.

Von Miller Joins Dallas Cowboys Pass Rush

Miller played all 17 games for the Washington Commanders last season and started 3. His 9.0 sacks led the team. He added 26 combined tackles and 6 tackles for loss on 420 defensive snaps, 37% of Washington’s total.

Miller has played 203 career games and recorded 138.5 sacks, the most of any active NFL player. He has been selected for eight Pro Bowls, received three first-team All-Pro honors, and secured two Super Bowl victories. Additionally, he was named Super Bowl 50 MVP and was the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011.

Denver drafted Miller second overall that year out of Texas A&M. He turned 37 in March and grew up in DeSoto, where he played at DeSoto High School.

Dallas’ edge group also includes Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Malachi Lawrence, James Houston, and Sam Williams.

Ezeiruaku was selected 44th overall in 2025 and ended his rookie season with 40 tackles and 2.0 sacks over 17 games. Dallas drafted Lawrence 23rd overall in April, and he recorded 3 tackles in his first preseason game on Saturday.

The Cowboys signed Quinnen Williams to a three-year, $105.9 million extension on Aug. 12.

The Cowboys play at the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 22 at 9 p.m. CT on CBS. Dallas closes the preseason against the New Orleans Saints on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. CT, then opens the regular season Sept. 13 at the New York Giants at 7:20 p.m. CT on NBC.
