Dallas Cowboys With a Great 2-Game Stretch

Before you crown the Dallas Cowboys the darlings of the NFC, let’s take a deep breath. Yes, they just pulled off a Thanksgiving miracle, toppling the Kansas City Chiefs in a 31-28 nail-biter. And yes, this comes just days after they clawed their way back to beat the Philadelphia Eagles. Beating both of last year’s Super Bowl teams in four days is the kind of stuff that gets the talking heads on ESPN all fired up.

Just a few weeks ago, this team was 3-5-1 and looked dead in the water after a Monday night stinker against Arizona. Their playoff chances were about as good as a snowball’s chance in, well, Dallas. Now, after three straight wins, they’re 6-5-1, and suddenly there’s a buzz. The locker room is buzzing, Jerry Jones is doing his Jerry Jones thing, and fans are starting to believe. But can this streak last?

Can the Cowboys’ Offense Keep This Up?

Let’s not kid ourselves, the offense looks electric right now. Dak Prescott is playing out of his mind, slinging the ball with the confidence of a man who knows he’s got CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens ready to make a play. Against the Chiefs, that duo was practically unstoppable, combining for 200 yards. When Prescott needed a big play, he just tossed it in their general direction, and good things happened.

Lamb, after a couple of quiet games, looked like his old self, declaring, “No one can really guard me.” You have to love the confidence, even if it’s a little bit of a diva moment. Prescott basically patted himself on the back for “predicting” Lamb would have a big game, which is like a chef predicting the food he’s cooking will be hot. Still, you can’t argue with the results. This offense is clicking, and they’re putting up points in bunches.

Is the Cowboys’ Soft Schedule a Blessing Or a Curse?

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. The rest of the Cowboys’ schedule looks like a cakewalk. They’ve got the struggling Vikings, the Chargers (who are good but beatable), and the tanking Commanders and Giants. The only real test left is a road game against the Detroit Lions. On paper, Dallas should roll through these teams and waltz into the playoffs.

But this is the NFL, and more importantly, these are the Cowboys. An easy schedule can sometimes lead to complacency. Will they keep their foot on the gas, or will they stumble against a team they should beat? A final record of 11-5-1 seems within reach, which should be more than enough to snag a playoff spot. They might even steal the NFC East title if the Eagles get a little too full of themselves.

The bottom line is this: the Dallas Cowboys are hot. They’re playing with a swagger we haven’t seen all season, and they have the talent to make a serious run. But they also have a long history of breaking their fans’ hearts. For now, they’re the team nobody wants to face in the playoffs.
