Damar Hamlin visiting Bills facility 'almost daily'

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin isn't simply recovering from his medical emergency at home.

According to ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg, Bills head coach Sean McDermott told reporters Wednesday that Hamlin visits the club's facility "almost daily." Hamlin hasn't yet participated in team meetings but is "dipping his toe back in here and you know, getting on the road to just getting back to himself," per McDermott.

Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during Buffalo's prime-time game at the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 2 and spent nearly a full week at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center before he was able to return to Western New York. The 24-year-old was discharged from Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute last Wednesday, and he visited the Bills facility ahead of the home playoff matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Buffalo defeated Miami 34-31 this past Sunday.

"Well, I think the guys are in a good spot," McDermott added about the response to Hamlin's recovery. "Damar's in the building now, almost starting daily, and so that's, that's good news. And as he continues to improve, I think those are, you know, that certainly helps. So that's gonna be – I mean, that experience – we'll carry that with us and there's a challenge to that, but there's also a lot of good that came from that."

The Bills host none other than the Bengals Sunday for a game that will be emotional for both sides due to varying reasons. As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk pointed out, it was unknown as of Wednesday afternoon if Hamlin intends on making an in-person appearance at Highmark Stadium Sunday.

The future of Hamlin's playing career remains up in the air, but that seems unimportant considering his status only a couple of weeks ago.
