Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder continues to defy the United States Congress.

He was invited by the House Oversight Committee to testify regarding allegations of the unsafe working environment cultivated by the squad, especially for women.

However, he refused the invitation which is a perfect opportunity to answer the concerns.

His absence compelled the committee to issue a subpoena but even that action seems to be not working.

The Recount tweeted, “The U.S. House Oversight Committee says Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder has not accepted the subpoena it issued. The committee issued the subpoena after Snyder refused to testify at a hearing last Wednesday about the organization’s alleged toxic workplace culture.”

Ignoring or refusing a subpoena can lead to contempt which translates to fines or jail time.

Snyder has all the money in the world to pay whatever fine the House bestows.

But he cannot avoid jail time if so ordered.

His refusal indicates that the Commanders’ workplace culture is a mess.

Rather than answering the issues, Snyder would like to keep silent and play the long game.

No Sanction Is Causing Snyder To Crack

The league fined the team $10 million after their investigation revealed the toxic workplace culture within the organization.

However, the NFL did not release their findings which could have led to more evidence against Snyder.

Meanwhile, the House Oversight Committee pointed out specific situations of unfavorable work practices, ranging from unfair treatment of female employees and consent to extra-marital affairs.

It seems like the only move that will rattle Snyder is if his fellow owners opted to vote him out.

For that, they would need probable cause which the NFL’s investigation could have provided.

Therefore, the process gets stalled and Snyder remains one of the most powerful men in the league.
