When the New York Giants selected Daniel Jones with the No. 6 pick back in 2019 they were met by a wave of backlash and scrutiny from their own fanbase and the media.

Jones attended a relatively small football school in Duke and his stats weren’t anything mind blowing, so it was baffling as to why he was selected so highly.

In his first NFL game he led a huge comeback against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers which made fans believe he was the quarterback of the future.

Unfortunately, that was arguably the biggest highlight of his career and the next five seasons were injury riddled and filled with disappointment.

Giants fans clamored for Jones to be traded or cut for years and they finally got their wish this past season.

The man nicknamed “Danny Dimes” was benched in the middle of the season and got demoted from backup, to emergency quarterback and finally as embarrassingly low as a practice squad safety.

This rightfully angered or embarrassed Jones and he requested a release from the team shortly after which they kindly granted.

He then signed with the Minnesota Vikings for the remainder of the season, presumably to learn under the tutelage of Kevin O’Connell who is considered a quarterback guru.

Sensing a better opportunity to start elsewhere, Jones signed a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts this offseason.

He looks to be in prime position to win the starting job and with this new realization, he finally took some time to dwell on how things ended in the big apple.

The former Giant acknowledged that things were tough with all the pressure and expectations that were placed on him, but he tries not to take it personally or hold grudges.

It is an incredibly humble mentality from someone who has been facing endless ridicule for the better part of a decade.

With the Colts starting job in Jones’ sights, he hopes to rewrite the story of his career and finally reach the potential that New York saw in him
