Davante Adams addresses Raiders future amid Derek Carr uncertainty

All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams confirmed Wednesday he wants to remain with the Las Vegas Raiders regardless of where quarterback Derek Carr calls home next season.

"I wouldn’t have ended up here originally if Derek wasn’t here, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I won’t be here in the event that he’s not here," Adams explained, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "That’s my boy. I’ve got his back through everything. I think I’ve made that more than clear at this point and I support him in everything moving forward."

The Raiders originally acquired Adams from the Green Bay Packers last March and then signed him to a five-year deal reportedly worth $141.25 million. Many expected Las Vegas would go on to compete for at least a playoff berth thanks largely to the combination of Carr and Adams, but the Raiders instead sat at 6-9 when first-year head coach Josh McDaniels benched the signal-caller after Week 16.

It's widely thought the Raiders are already considering options to replace Carr this coming offseason.

Adams previously made it known he had "been a Raiders fan all my life," and he declared Wednesday his "dream was to play for this team before (Carr) was a Raider."

According to ESPN, Adams enters Week 18 of the season leading the league with 14 touchdown receptions on the season. He's third with 1,443 receiving yards and 10th with 95 catches. He and the 6-10 Raiders end a disappointing campaign against the 13-3 Kansas City Chiefs this Saturday.

As for the future, Las Vegas is already being heavily linked in rumors with Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter Tom Brady and also with retired tight end Rob Gronkowski.
