More football was played on Thursday, and the Los Angeles Rams were unable to pull out a win against this San Francisco 49ers roster. One player that was really disappointing for fantasy football was Davante Adams.
In a PPR format, Adams only scored 5.6 fantasy points, which is a really rough start to the week if he’s in your starting lineup. This year, Adams was being drafted as the WR23 with an overall ADP (FantasyPros) of 53.1. While it’s not as if he was projected to be an elite player, he certainly should have been starting for most.
Below, we’ll take a look at what went wrong for Adams and if you should be concerned or not.
Before we dive into the numbers for Adams, it’s worth noting that this was not a regular matchup. This game was played in Australia, which, because of the travel accommodations, can always be tough on players.

However, looking at the snap counts according to PFF, Adams was still the clear number two in terms of usage. Adams only had 33 snaps, which was less than Colby Parkinson, but he had the second-most routes run on the entire team (WR & TE).
Adams drew six targets as well, where the only other receivers outside of Puka Nacua in this offense would top out at two. It’s just that Adams only had three catches for 26 yards, coming out to 4.3 yards per target.
Now, to be fair, there is some reason for concern with Adams because last season, that mark was only up to 6.9, and a lot of his fantasy production was dominated by scoring 14 touchdowns. At the same time, while Adams may not be able to get quite back to that number, the Rams’ offense is not something I’m worried about, which should create opportunities for him going forward.
For that reason, the usage of Davante Adams does not concern me, and you should still feel comfortable starting him as a WR2 or FLEX in your fantasy football.
