Fox Sports is close to finalizing a major deal that would bring Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy onto its Big Noon Kickoff pregame show, according to Front Office Sports and other outlets.

The agreement, still in its early stages, would also bring broader Barstool content to FS1 following a wave of programming cancellations earlier this week.

If completed, Portnoy would join a star-studded panel that includes Urban Meyer, Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, Mark Ingram, Chris “The Bear” Fallica, and host Rob Stone. This reflects Fox’s goal to appeal to the crucial 18-to-34 demographic and push back against ESPN’s College GameDay — a battle intensified when ESPN added former Barstool talent Pat McAfee to their lineup.

The deal would not only place Portnoy on the pregame set but also license Barstool content to fill gaps on FS1, potentially bringing shows like Pardon My Take back to linear television. It follows Fox’s recent moves to axe Breakfast Ball, The Facility, and Speak, clearing space for new programming.

Portnoy’s track record with the coveted young male audience and his flair for viral culture make him an appealing addition, especially for Big Noon Kickoff as it looks to compete in the crowded college football media landscape. Fox is betting that his on-air presence and Barstool’s brand voice can create standout moments to draw eyes away from ESPN on Saturday mornings.

While the contract is not yet signed, it’s a clear signal: FS1 is leaning into personality-driven programming to redefine sports weekend windows. If the deal goes through, expect Portnoy’s irreverent style to shake up college football coverage and set the tone for a new generation of fans.
