DeAndre Hopkins To Join Georgia Tech’s Coaching Staff

Hopkins is expected to join Georgia Tech as a member of the team’s offensive staff, Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of CBS Sports report. The decorated receiver has spent the past week in Atlanta visiting with the Yellow Jackets, per the report. Hopkins joining the staff will allow him to reunite with George Godsey, who is Georgia Tech’s offensive coordinator.

For much of his career, Hopkins was among the NFL’s best receivers. He ranks within the top 20 on the league’s all-time lists for catches, yards and touchdowns and has three first-team All-Pro nods to his name. The 34-year-old has seen his production wane in recent seasons, though, and he managed only 330 yards on 22 receptions with the Ravens in 2025.

Since seeing his Baltimore contract expire, Hopkins has remained on the open market. The five-time Pro Bowler was open to a second Ravens season, and he mentioned other potential destinations like the Bengals and Vikings as landing spots he would consider. Interest on the part of those teams – and others – has been limited at best, however. As a result, Hopkins recently joined the Patriots (and one of his former coaches in the form of Mike Vrabel) to explore the possibility of a coaching gig.

It remains to be seen what Hopkins’ role will be with Georgia Tech, but an assistant opportunity working with the team’s receivers or in a quality control capacity would come as no surprise. Depending on how the 2025 season plays out, a commitment to coaching as a long-term second football chapter could be in store. Hopkins has not made a formal retirement announcement at this point, although that could of course change in the near future.

A first-round pick in 2013, Hopkins topped 1,100 yards on five occasions across the seven-year Texans tenure which began his career. His Houston run came to a surprising end via a trade to the Cardinals in 2020, although his second and third Arizona campaigns did not go to plan. The Clemson product joined Vrabel’s Titans in 2023 and delivered another productive campaign. Aiming to join a contender, he was dealt to the Chiefs at the 2024 trade deadline. Hopkins played a regular role with Kansas City as the team lost in the Super Bowl.

That set up last offseason’s one-year Ravens pact. Hopkins remained healthy through his 13th NFL campaign, but it increasingly appears as though it was his last as a player.
