Whenever anything happens involving Shedeur Sanders, his father, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, is immediately asked for a comment. That was, of course, the case after the Cleveland Browns traded QB Joe Flacco, setting the stage for Shedeur to move up the depth chart.
However, this time, the often outspoken Deion Sanders did not take the bait. Instead, he decided to offer a different kind of response than what most are accustomed to hearing from the NFL legend.
"I don't care. I don't give a darn about the Browns at all. I care about the Colorado Buffaloes," Deion Sanders replied to a direct question about the Browns' trade.
Like any father, he then reiterated his love for his son while emphasizing where his current priorities lie.
"I do love me some Shedeur Sanders, though, believe that. I care about him. The rest of that mess, I don't. I'm a coach that's trying win, just like they're trying to win games, but I could care less of who they traded."

The message was clear. Sanders is trying to turn the 2-4 Buffaloes around, not meddle in what's going on with an NFL team, even if that team employs his son.
And honestly, that's the right attitude he should have. Any other comment would've been blown up and dissected, especially since many believe his influence over his son is part of what led NFL teams to pass on Shedeur. The younger Sanders was once projected to be a first-round pick, but slid down the board and was selected by the Browns in the fifth round.
Deion Sanders is also right about needing to focus on his actual job right now. Not only are the Buffaloes 2-4, but they are 0-3 in Big 12 play and have yet to beat a Power Four opponent. Colorado's only wins through its first six games are over Delaware and Wyoming, leaving concern about how it will fare against the rest of its schedule. Coming off a 35-21 loss to TCU, Colorado will host No. 22 Iowa State on Saturday.
It remains to be seen when Shedeur will earn his opportunity — fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who the Browns drafted in the third round this year, is slated to make his second straight start this Sunday, taking on the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. But no matter when that time comes, his legendary father is, at least for now, only worried about what he can control.
