DeMarcus Ware Praises Cowboys Brian Schottenheimer

Hall of Fame outside linebacker and Dallas Cowboys legend DeMarcus Ware believes Brian Schottenheimer is the ideal leader to push Dallas closer to its long-awaited sixth Super Bowl.

Ware acknowledged that Schottenheimer has the ability to change the Dallas Cowboys’ culture while also keeping Owner, General Manager, and President Jerry Jones focused on what matters most.

“I think a guy like Schottenheimer coming in and reminding [Jones] what’s the most important thing, and that’s his family,” Ware told “The Invasion” podcast. “Sometimes you need reminders and someone underneath you to say ‘hey, let’s try this’ and hit a little button in [Jones] that will sort of get that fire going in you again.”

Going into his first season as the Cowboys head coach, Schottenheimer has made an intentional effort to build a strong chemistry with each player.

Ware recalled a similar atmosphere and emphasis on culture during his Super Bowl-winning run with the Denver Broncos.

“That’s like really cool to be able to — [Schottenheimer] bringing in that family aspect because it’s been gone. Even when I was there, it wasn’t there a lot," Ware said. “When you can bring that family aspect, I know what it felt like in Denver when we did it. We won a championship because it was like, when them doors were closed, it was all family inside and I knew exactly why that guy was playing and what made him tick.”

If Schottenheimer can ignite an internal fire not just in the players, but throughout the organization, the Cowboys may be in store for a special season.
