It should've happened the moment DeMarvion Overshown first arrived to the Dallas Cowboys. But two years later, it's finally here. The rising linebacker is finally getting what he wanted.
Overshown is changing his jersey number to zero. It'll be his third number in three years, going from 35 to 13 and now 0. This one is a special change, though: Overshown earned the nickname "Agent Zero" with the Texas Longhorns, where he used the number throughout his standout career.
The Cowboys announced the news after teasing it multiple times on his social media accounts, including two weeks ago and last Thursday, one day before the news.

Wearing No. 0 was first allowed by the NFL in 2023 but Overshown wasn't allowed to wear it in Dallas because of... the team mascot, Rowdy.
As ridiculous as it sounds, Overshown revealed it as the reason in an interview with CBS Texas last year.
“As soon as they made the rule that NFL players can wear zero I [was] like, the first Dallas Cowboy to wear zero like it’s just meant to be, coming from Texas wearing No. 0," Overshown said. "That’s Rowdy's number and I guess me and Rowdy going to have to duke it out. (. . .) Hopefully I look so good on the field he’ll be like 'you know what? You can have zero.”
Overshown manifested it. Following a rookie season derailed by a season-ending ACL injury, he sent a loud and clear message in 2024. In 13 games, he established himself as one of the best defenders on the Cowboys while recording five sacks, one interception, four pass deflections, and eight tackles for loss. He was everywhere on the field and displayed legit All-Pro potential.
The reward? Getting No. 0.
Unfortunately, we don't quite know when we'll get to see him rock the new jersey number as he's rehabbing from a second season-ending injury. Patience will be key as the Cowboys know Overshown is as important for their long-term future as he is for the 2025 season.
What is clear is the expectations will be high for the young defender after what he showed in his first regular season.
"I'm going to be the Comeback Player of the Year," Overshown vowed on NFL Network's Good Morning Football.
He'll do so by rocking his preferred number.
