When Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is healthy and on the field, his speed, instincts, and playmaking ability immediately stand out.
Before suffering a devastating knee injury that ended his 2024 season, Overshown recorded 90 tackles, five sacks, four pass deflections, eight tackles for loss, one interception, a forced fumble, and a touchdown in 13 games played.
Despite a shortened season, Overshown’s highly productive play earned him league-wide respect, as he was voted the eighth-best off-ball linebacker in the NFL in ESPN’s recent poll of executives, coaches, and scouts.
"One of the most athletic linebackers I've ever seen," a veteran NFL defensive coach said. "He's the fastest guy out there. Can completely take over a game and was really starting to get it."
Overshown might not be ready to play at the start of the 2025 season, but he’s already proven he can bounce back from a significant injury. The University of Texas product followed up the torn ACL he suffered in a preseason game during his rookie year with a phenomenal sophomore campaign last season.
"He's absolutely amazing," a personnel exec with an NFL team said. "Ridiculous."
While Overshown is on an elite trajectory, he can elevate his game even further by improving key areas of his skill set.
"He can be a stud but has to really improve in zone coverage and when he has to disengage from a block," a veteran NFL defensive coach said. "He can play man-to-man on any RB or TE in the league but zone awareness lacks. He does a great job using his athleticism to slip under blocks but if they get hands on him, it's a problem.”
If he continues to develop and stays healthy, Overshown has all the tools to become one of the most dynamic and disruptive linebackers in the NFL.
