Denver Broncos Acquire Intriguing Weapon for Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos have bolstered their wide receiver group by signing undrafted free agent Kyre Duplessis after he impressed in a workout on Friday morning.

The move comes as the team navigates injuries and limited practice time for several key pass catchers during training camp.

Reporter Mike Klis noted that Duplessis, a product of Coastal Carolina and the University of Delaware, outperformed three other receivers in the tryout and earned a spot on the roster.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound receiver spent five seasons at Coastal Carolina before transferring to Delaware for a sixth and final college campaign in 2025. There he delivered a strong performance with 60 receptions for 824 yards and five touchdowns, earning All-Conference USA recognition.

Duplessis briefly spent time with the Detroit Lions earlier in the summer and then joined the Seattle Seahawks before being waived on Aug. 5.

The Broncos quickly brought him in as they look to add depth at the position. Courtland Sutton has been receiving periodic rest days, while Jaylen Waddle and Marvin Mims Jr. have been dealing with various issues that have limited their availability.

Duplessis steps into a competitive wide receiver room that already features established talent and intriguing younger players.

One name generating particular buzz is second-year wideout Pat Bryant. As a rookie, Bryant recorded 35 catches for 412 yards and a touchdown before injuries slowed him late in the season. He has added roughly 10 pounds of muscle this offseason and has been turning heads in camp.

Observers have pointed to Bryant’s strong daily performances and suggested he is being prepared to handle a larger role, potentially including opportunities at the X receiver spot traditionally occupied by Sutton. Some have already labeled him a clear WR3 candidate based on his consistent playmaking.

The addition of Duplessis provides the Broncos with another body who can compete for practice reps and potentially contribute if the injury situation persists.

At this stage of training camp, roster depth remains a priority as the team evaluates its options and prepares for the preseason schedule.

Whether Duplessis can carve out a meaningful role remains to be seen, but his college production and successful audition have at least earned him an opportunity in Denver.
