Denver Broncos kick off Phase 3 of the offseason workout program with OTAs on Tuesday
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos, along with 19 other teams like the reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champions and the Kansas City Chiefs, are starting a crucial phase of their preparation for the 2024 season. Starting on Tuesday, May 21, they will embark on Phase II of their offseason workout program. This phase, known as Organized Team Activities (OTAs), symbolizes the final stage of our collective efforts toward success.

Teams are allowed ten total OTA practice sessions, which the Broncos separate into three different groups. OTAs include on-field workouts with individual and group components, including walkthroughs, but no live contact is permitted during these workouts. However, 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted during OTAs. No pads except protective knee and elbow pads, as well as helmets, are permitted.

Here's the schedule for the upcoming OTA workouts:

  • Organized Team Activities Group 1: May 21-23
  • Organized Team Activities Group 2: May 28-30.
  • Organized Team Activities Group 3: June 3-6.

While OTAs are voluntary and not every player will attend every practice session, Phase III also includes the first mandatory component of the offseason. Article 22 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) allows teams to hold one mandatory minicamp for both rookies and veterans during Phase III of the offseason workout program.

This is where we will really see head coach Sean Payton put his new rookie quarterback, Bo Nix, to work. It's going to be super fun to follow and watch this season.
