Detroit Lions 2025 NFL Draft Analysis: What Went Right, What Went Wrong, Best and Worst Picks
© Joseph Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

It's sort of hard to dog Detroit drafts too much considering how hard it crushed several key picks over the last few years, so let's just give a few benefits of the doubt here.

With that said, it took Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams about 20 picks too early. The Lions needed help on the interior, and he's the only one they drafted for the spot - and paid retail at the 28.

But they know something, because they built a powerhouse of a team. They're smart, I'm dumb, they know what they're doing, I'm a lost little lamb wandering through the NFL draft woods, but ...

LSU guard Miles Frazier. He was taken in the fourth round, and he slid because he's a guard. Talent-wise he's a mid-third rounder, and Detroit got him. Other than that, Detroit paid $19 for $6 cheeseburgers at pick after pick after pick.

But it's Detroit, and it'll all probably work out fine.

Detroit Lions 2025 Draft Class

1 (28) Tyleik Williams, DT Ohio State
2 (57) Tate Ratledge, OG Georgia
3 (70) Isaac TeSlaa, WR Arkansas
5 (171) Miles Frazier, OG LSU
6 (196) Ahmad Hassanein, EDGE Boise State
7 (230) Dan Jackson, S Georgia
7 (244) Dominic Lovett, WR Georgia

What Went Right?
Not much. The Lions sort of filled their needs, and they did beef up the offensive interior with Miles Frazier and Tate Ratledge. Again, Tyleik Williams was taken too early, but he's good

What Went Wrong?
They sort of got caught. The run on edge rushers and top defensive tackles wasn't done by the time the 28 came around, but the well dried up a bit. They didn't really address the need for more edge rushing help - throwing a sixth-rounder at the problem isn't going to do it.

Best Value Pick: Miles Frazier, OG LSU
Biggest Reach: Isaac TeSlaa, WR Arkansas
Draft Grade: C-
2023 Ranking: 21 | 2024 Ranking: 13
