Lions Dominate Cardinals and Win a Much-Needed Game

The Detroit Lions go belt to ass in  a major victory on both sides of the ball, with the Lions beating the Arizona Cardinals 45-21.

The Lions, while needing to improve, completely dominated the Cardinals in every facet of the game, and the game was over early. The team needed to rebound, and the Lions answered at all three phases of the game.

First Quarter

The Lions once again started the game with an early three-and-out, including a sack, before giving it back to Arizona. The Cardinals would, as every other team the Lions faced, march it down the field, even going for it on fourth down, and score a touchdown to strike first. The Lions would get the ball back and once again punt. The Lions, much to the world’s surprise, actually forced a punt, and returner Tom Kennedy would run the ball to Arizona’s 42-yard line. The Lions… punt to end the first quarter. Cardinals 7- Lions 0.

Second Quarter

Second quarter, the Lions would force the punt and get the ball back. The Lions made a big play on fourth and three and got a big first down. Lions forced another big play, and a Jahmyr Gibbs touchdown would put the Lions on the board. The Lions held the Cardinals back again and forced a big punt. The Lions would show more of the team they wanted to be, and would score a 38-yard touchdown from Jared Goff to Sam LaPorta. Detroit’s defense would step up again and force a three-and-out and a Cardinals punt.

Lions would get back and once again score a touchdown from Goff to Jameson Williams. Lions are heating up and showing signs of life. The Lions’ defense would step up again, with a DJ Wonnum sack, which forced another Arizona punt. The Lions would march downfield to a field goal. Arizona would get the ball back, and Detroit cornerback Rodger McCreary would put pressure on this Cardinals team and make big play after big play, before a second Wonnum sack and an interception from Keith Abney ended the half. Lions 24- Cardinals 7.

Third Quarter

Cardinals would be contained and would miss a field goal. Detroit would take over, and a massive touchdown to Williams put Detroit up by four scores with seven. The Cardinals would march the ball down before a touchdown put them back within 3 scores, but it ate so much time off the clock. The Lions pushed the ball forward once again, and Goff would score himself, Lions up by fourscores again. End of 3rd quarter. Lions 38 – Cardinals 14.

Fourth Quarter

Aidan Hutchinson and Malcolm Rodriguez would make a huge sack on a fourth and one, and turn the ball over on downs. The Lions got the ball back and would eat as much off the clock as possible, leading to a Gibbs touchdown. The Cardinals, with nothing left to lose, would score a garbage time touchdown.

The Lions go into their bye week as they figure out what the next phase of the team is, and the Cardinals go on the road to face the Los Angeles Rams on October 18.
