Detroit Lions GM addresses Terrion Arnold release

Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes held a joint press conference alongside assistant GM Ray Agnew. Media asked them about the biggest story of the Lions’ offseason – Terrion Arnold’s arrest and subsequent release. The former first round draft-pick has already signed for last year’s Super Bowl winners, the Seattle Seahawks.

Speaking to the media, Holmes addressed the situation. While he backed Arnold saying he had “made a mistake,” he also explained why the Lions were forced the relese the cornerback. Holmes said:

“The whole situation was unfortunate. The kid made a mistake. The more information we got throughout the process, was the result of doing what was best and right thing for the club which was to move on and move forward. We appreciate everything he did.” [via Detroit Lions]

With the news of the Terrion Arnold release, fans expected more reinforcements in the position heading into the new season. However, Holmes reiterated that the Lions are happy with their current cornerback room. Holmes said:

We like the guys we have right now in that room.

Heading into the new season, the Lions clearly lack depth at cornerback despite what management says. After Arnold’s release, D.J. Reed and Rock Ya-Sin are expected to start at CB.
