Dak Prescott and star Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb have a formidable chemistry, but after a tough loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Dez Bryant wants to see more from the offense.
A former star Dallas Cowboys wide receiver himself, Dez Bryant was significantly impressed by Brian Schottenheimer‘s offense in their first outing.
However, the Cowboys were lacking in their pass rush against an elite Philadelphia Eagles offensive line, and then paid the price for some crucial mistakes.
The loss was defined by three crucial CeeDee Lamb drops and a Miles Sanders fumble in the second half, taking the shine off an excellent performance.
While the wide receivers were limited in usage on both sides, with AJ Brown only having one reception for eight yards, Bryant wants to see Dak Prescott put faith in more than just Lamb and in one receiver in particular.
The Cowboys traded for wide receiver George Pickens for a reason, and that was to give Prescott a trusted weapon outside of CeeDee Lamb.
George Pickens wasn’t able to take a big step at the Pittsburgh Steelers for a variety of reasons, predominantly quarterback play, but now he has a massive chance to shine with Prescott.
Dez Bryant has called for Prescott to throw the ball to Pickens the way he does to tight ends in the middle of the field after Pickens only had three catches for 30 yards.
Writing his thoughts on X, Bryant said: “4..the way you throw the seam ball to the tight ends up the field..throw the same kind of ball to 3 [George Pickens] on the outside.
4..the way you throw the seam ball to the tight ends up the field..throw the same kind of ball to 3 on the outside..put it in the area..and watch him make a play…You already have great chemistry with 88…Watch how 3 help put you in the best situation moving forward. I love what…

“Put it in the area and watch him make a play…You already have great chemistry with 88…Watch how 3 help put you in the best situation moving forward. I love what I see. Real talk.”
Prescott had a fair bit to deal with on Thursday night, including being spat at by the Eagles’ DT Jalen Carter, but there is plenty of optimism after their performance. They just need to get Pickens involved more.
While the loss may sting for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys from the top to the bottom of the franchise, it is only one week, and CeeDee Lamb’s drops are being blown out of proportion.
Yes, they were crucial to the Cowboys’ final drive, and what would likely have been a legacy drive for Dak Prescott against their bitter rivals, but perspective is needed.
NFL head coaches face a can’t win situation every year ahead of the new season when they decide whether starters should play in the preseason games.
The Cincinnati Bengals flipped the script with that and started Joe Burrow and his star WRs a considerable amount more than anticipated.
If those players get injured, it is on the head coach. If they are rusty in week one and it proves costly, it’s also on the head coach. It was a truly unwinnable situation that Brian Schottenheimer faced.
Those four total drops, three in the second half from CeeDee Lamb, indicated rustiness more than anything. With Pickens on the team, Lamb should become freer on the field, which can only be a good thing.
